The challenge

A licensed payment institution wanted to offer business customers multi-currency accounts and fast international payouts. Its setup stitched several partner banks together with manual processes: payments were tracked in spreadsheets, FX was quoted by email, and month-end reconciliation took the finance team days.

What we built

  1. Multi-currency business accounts, with local account details in key currencies through partner banks.
  2. FX conversion with live rates, quotes and margin rules managed by the treasury team.
  3. Payouts across multiple corridors, routed between partners by cost, speed and availability.
  4. A double-entry ledger as the single source of truth, with automated reconciliation against partner statements.
  5. A customer web app and API, plus a back office for operations, compliance and finance.
  6. Compliance built in: business onboarding (KYB), sanctions screening and transaction monitoring.

How we did it

Discovery brought operations, finance and compliance into the same room. We designed the ledger first, because every other part of the system depends on it.
